An investigation found that hundreds of podcasts on Spotify and Apple Podcasts are actually unedited NotebookLM audio overviews — AI-generated discussions based on uploaded documents. Many have no disclosure. Google's ToS allows commercial use; Spotify requires AI disclosure but enforcement is inconsistent.
The interesting angle: NotebookLM's audio output is good enough that listeners can't distinguish it from human-produced podcasts at scale.
