Nous Research releases open-source coding model
Nous Research released NousCoder-14B, an open-source coding model that matches or exceeds several larger proprietary systems. The model was trained in four days using 48 Nvidia B200 graphics processors and achieves a 67.87% accuracy rate on LiveCodeBench v6. The release includes the complete reinforcement learning environment, benchmark suite, and training harness, enabling reproducibility and extension by other researchers.
NousCoder-14B's release provides developers with an open-source alternative for AI-assisted coding, allowing for transparency and reproducibility. The model's training process and architecture can be studied and extended, enabling developers to improve their own AI-assisted coding tools. The use of verifiable rewards and reinforcement learning techniques can also inform the development of more efficient AI models.
Explore NousCoder-14B's code and training data to understand its capabilities and limitations, and consider integrating its techniques into your own AI-assisted coding projects.
